We are now - officially - less than a week away from Halloween. That means that you better get your costumes finalized, your candy baskets stocked, your surveillance cameras ready, and whatever else you do to get ready for October 31st.

And we're getting ready for it here, too. We've actually been doing some research on Halloween, and some of the statistics we found out about are rather random, and quite possibly troubling. Below are just a few of the statistics that we learned about from Wallethub.com:

  • 72% of parents admit to secretly eating (stealing) their kids candy.
  • 17% of Americans plan to dress up their animals in costumes.
  • $8.8 billion in projected Halloween spending this year.
  • $2.6 billion is expected to be spent on Halloween candy this year.
  • 83% of parents check kids' candy for anything dangerous.

And these are just a few of the Halloween statistics. We also found out a couple of other Halloween statistical  gems.

America's Favorite Halloween Candy:

  1. Skittles (Really...? Number One...?)
  2. Reese's Cups
  3. M&Ms (Should be #1 in my opinion.)
  4. Snickers
  5. Starbursts

And one more piece of Halloween statistics for laughs.

Most Popular Pet Costumes for Halloween:

  1. Pumpkin
  2. Hot Dog (Get it?!?!)
  3. Superhero
  4. Bumblebee

For the full list of statistics, you can check out Wallethub.com. It actually makes for a pretty interesting read, especially if you're a Halloween fan. Now that you know a bit more, you can prepare yourself better for next week. I guess that's how it works...
