I know, I know...we're still talking about daily Heat Advisories because the feels like temperature is soaring above 105 degrees.  So, why would I be addressing the Christmas holiday when we are still a good two weeks away from Christmas decorations being up in stores...insert sarcasm emoji here.

Well, there is some big news concerning a holiday standard in East Texas.  Rudolph the Red Nosed Pumping is moving to a new home.  According to a post on the Main Street Lufkin Facebook Page, Rudolph will now be downtown and unveiled during the Christmas in the Pines event which will take place December 6th-8th.  The official lighting ceremony will take place Saturday evening, December 7th, and Rudolph will now reside in the parking lot next to the municipal court. This will mark the 53rd year of Rudolph the Red Nosed Pumping Unit being a holiday staple in East Texas.

Christmas in the Pines will begin Friday, December 6th at 6:30 PM with The City of Lufkin Christmas parade. Saturday morning starts off with The ADAC Reindeer Run and Donuts with Santa, and continues with a Strongest Santa Competition, food trucks, downtown shopping, live performances and the Lighting of Rudolph the Red Nose Pumping Unit. Organizers of the event are hopeful that the addition of Rudolph to his new site will increase tourist traffic to downtown Lufkin.
