In today's world, technology is constantly moving. Even the most basic functions of computers and cell phones can be difficult to keep up with. Luckily, one of our local organizations is looking to help out with that in a new way.

San Augustine Public Library to Host Basic Computer and Cell Phone Classes

According to a post on the San Augustine Public Library Facebook page, they are in the planning stages of putting together basic computer and cell phone classes. Now, while I think that most of us can benefit from this, the classes that the library staff is putting together will be exclusively for the 50+ age group.

A grant from Communities Unlimited is making this possible, and it's making it possible for them to offer the classes free of charge. They'll cover all sorts of technology-based topics, including basic computer and cell phone skills, email, internet, apps, and more.

SAPL Needs Input for Classes

Like I mentioned, they're just in the planning stages of making these new classes a reality. With that, they need help from the community. They're asking people to stop by the library and fill out a survey to better understand how they can shape their courses.

There are still a lot of planning steps that need to be taken before classes kick off, but the folks at the San Augustine Public Library are hoping to have all the steps complete so that classes can start in January 2027 - a pretty awesome way to start the new year, right?

And don't think that I'm singling anyone out. There are days that I wish that I could take advantage of basic technology classes like this - and I've even worked as an IT TECHNICIAN! I'm also still years off from being in the 50+ age range to be able to take the classes. Again, not singling anyone out. Just stating facts. If you're in that age range, I'd definitely recommend looking into this - especially since they'll be FREE.
