SFA Lumberjack Football Comes Back to Nacogdoches on September 5th
College football is a fun event to attend. Yes, it can be a heartbreaking thing if your team loses, but to some extent, every game is an enjoyable experience - win or lose. That's my opinion on the matter, anyway. That's why it's really cool to have a state university right here in our area, so that we can attend the games.
That excitement returns to Deep East Texas on September 5th, right back in Homer Bryce Stadium in Nacogdoches, when Stephen F. Austin State University hosts East Texas A&M.
SFA Lumberjacks First Home Football Game Will Take Place September 5, 2026
According to SFAJacks.com, the first home football game for SFA will be on September 5th, when they take on the ETAMU Lions. This is not the first game of the season, just the first home game. The first game overall will take place on August 29th, when the Jacks travel to McNeese to play.
As of right now, the only official game information is the date. The kickoff time has still not been announced. Games will be able to be streamed on ESPN+ or via Classic Rock Q107.

This season the Lumberjacks are hoping to have an even better season than last year, after going undefeated in the Southland Conference to win the conference championship and then making it to the second round of the FCS playoffs before losing to Montana State - which was played on Montana's home field. It was the best season that the Jacks have had in a while, and a repeat/improvement of that season would be a great accomplishment.
