Smoke Blankets Lufkin During Controlled Burn

Setting 200 acres on fire in a safe way, still generates a lot of smoke. It can be concerning when you see smoke and not know why. The burn is in the southern part of town down Highway 58. So if you are in the Lufkin, Crown Colony/Fuller Springs area or the Zavalla area, and you see smoke, you know why.

CONTROLLED BURN: Smoke from a 200-acre controlled burn off of FM 58 has settled over the city due to wind direction. They plan on finishing up the main part of the burn tomorrow so we expect the smoke to continue for the next day or so.
