Some Lufkin students aren't taking the summer off to lay by the pool.  Okay, maybe they'll do that too.  But they're studying right now under the Gear Up STEM program at Lufkin High School, and they're getting to do some pretty cool things.

NASA is letting us vote on new space suits! It seems like the NASA engineers might know more than we would about what space suits would be best for the astronauts, but we can have input nonetheless. Between now and April 15th, we can vote online on the new space suit designs.

Talk about a dream job.

The Angelina College Aerospace Scholars have a connection to NASA now, and it's a kids' toy that has linked them. The students built a Mars Rover out of Lego's  as part of a competition at the National Community College Aerospace Scholars event at NASA's Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center recently. The program helps math and science students with problem-solving skills, and has been available to Angel

At 7:59 a.m., on the morning of February 1st, 2003, first came the sounds, and then after the news reports and the scattered debris, the realization that East Texas had been engraved in history as one of the sites of the worst disasters in NASA’s history.

With the historic landing of spacecraft "Curiosity" on Mars, now would be a great time to visit the 'Patricia Huffman Smith NASA Museum' in Hemphill.  Yeah, me too...had no idea this existed, so I'm thinking there are others that may not be aware of the grand tribute to "Columbia".

Don't mean to be critical of the space program (NASA), but is spending money on a trip to Mars really beneficial  --  to anyone? Considering the price-tag for this overrated movie was 2.5 Billion, I'll bet you that lots of people could have health care coverage today considering the dollars spent on this seven month travel expenditure.

ZZ Top are currently on tour and while in Houston for a gig, bassist Dusty Hill decided to stop by NASA Mission Control.  There, the rocker had a chat with Astronaut Commander Michael Fossum – which in and of itself is no big deal – except that Fossum is now aboard the International Space Station.

The extreme heat has the lake levels low at Lake Nacogdoches, and that's causing strange things to happen. Late last week a piece of equipment began to emerge, and it turns out it had settled there after traveling through outer space.
