If it's nine years in the making the story deserves a follow up, especially if it involves our beloved Texas fajitas.  The man found guilty of stealing 1.2 million dollars worth of fajitas is getting 50 years behind bars, where fajitas probably won't be on the menu all that often.

The plot was only foiled last summer because Gilberto Escamillo was out at a medical appointment one day and wasn't there to receive the usual fajita delivery.  A delivery driver had been dropping off fajitas shipments weekly at the Cameron County Juvenile Justice Department kitchen in South Texas for almost a decade.  And the Brownsville Herald reported it was more than just a serving or two.

According to FOX News,  Escamilla admitted to intercepting the deliveries, and investigators think he has been taking orders of his own and selling them to some sort of fajita chain. Bizarre!  The county-funded deliveries totaled $1,251,578, and it's enough for a felony theft charge.

Prosecutors asked for a heavy sentence to send a strong message, and Escamilla was sentenced a few days ago to 50 years in prison for the theft.

Appreciate the fajitas at all of our awesome East Texas restaurants this weekend that will only set you back about twenty bucks.  Those fajitas are on the up-and-up, and totally worth the effort.
