These Common Disinfectants Will Kill Coronavirus
Good news. Coronaviruses are what are called "enveloped viruses," meaning they are easy to kill if we have the right weapons. There's more than one household cleaner that can do the trick.
The federal government released a list of approved disinfectants to protect against the spread of the coronavirus, and it's the stuff that you probably already have under your bathroom sink.
The manufacturers gave the data to the EPA that showed their products are effective against viruses that are hard to kill, and USA Today posted the list of EPA-approved products. The EPA also said coronaviruses "are one of the easiest types of viruses to kill with the appropriate disinfectant product." Sweet! I don't get violent too often, but let's murder those suckers.
The CDC said "diluted household bleach solutions, alcohol solutions with at least 70% alcohol, and most common EPA-registered household disinfectants should be effective" against COVID-19.

With cleaners and disinfectants flying off the shelves, we can assume that Texas is going to be cleaner than it's ever been. Janitorial teams are going after railings and handles at airports and other public places, schools are stepping up the usual cleaning routines, and our homes are getting wiped down too like never before. If there is a virus on a surface, it's in a really vulnerable spot. Hallelujah. There's no need to hoard, because they'll make more of the disinfectants.
Oh, and about the handwashing, you're not touching that nasty remote or your smartphone after all of that good scrubbing work are you? I sang the Happy Birthday song in my head and washed for twenty seconds the other day, only to walk out of the bathroom and immediately check email on my phone. That was so dumb. I got rid of a germ and then probably picked up two more.
Save some anti-bacterial wipes for the germ-infested common objects too. We'll get this.
