TX School Implements Parents’ Dress Code…I Think It’s Fantastic

There's a school in Texas that has stepped up and given the parents of their students a dress code. If you haven't heard this story yet, hold on, because it's actually pretty awesome.

James Madison High School sent out a letter earlier this month with the new policy for the parents' dress code. Before parents are permitted to enter the school, they have to be within the dress code guidelines, which prohibits the following:

• Satin caps, bonnets, and shower caps
• Hair rollers
• Pajamas and house shoes
• Torn Jeans
• Leggings
• Low-cut tops
• Sagging Pants
• Daisy Duke shorts

Being the son of a public educator, I think that this policy is fantastic. I personally wouldn't want parents showing up looking like they just rolled out of bed, or with clothing that some would find offensive. Especially if the students can't wear clothing like that.

Like it says in the letter, the school and it's educators are "preparing [the children] for a prosperous future..." and they "want them to know what is appropriate and what is not appropriate for any setting they may be in." It's an educational environment, and in my opinion, should be treated that way. And that includes not showing up in pajamas and hair rollers.
