Just got through kickin' it over at Outback Steakhouse in preparation for the Fourth Annual Pineywoods Cattle Baron's gala.

Join hundreds of your friends, family, neighbors, and the American Cancer Society, as we plan on "Leavin' Cancer in the Dust" (this year's theme).

This annual event raises funds to support cancer awareness, provides prevention of the disease through educational efforts, and affords life saving research.

Becca Chance is the Cattle Baron Chairwoman who knows first hand the effects Cancer has on those who fight the battle, and those who care for those that fight the battle.  Right now she fights for her sister, as her sister fights the big "C".

There's only one way to beat it, and that's with enough funding to explore every "needle in the haystack", and leaving "no stone unturned".  With extended optimism, one hopes that the magic bullet, the anecdote, if you will, is on the horizon.  If we can ship people via rockets to a house in the solar system, then you have to believe that our cutting edge technology will break through the force field and award us a cure  --  very soon.

This years event will take place on Saturday, October 12 at the home of Dr. Jeff and Dessa Glass in Lufkin.  Texas native Jack Ingram won the 2008 Academy of Country Music-Best New Vocalist, and will be taking center stage for your entertainment.

Individual and group sponsorships begin at $3,500, with a wealth of recognition accompanying your generosity.  Mary King can help you out with this.  She is the Public Relations Chairwoman and may be reached at 936.637.3771, or you may E-mail her at "mary.king @woodlandheights.net".
