This year has been a pretty active...No, it's been a very active year for storms. We even caught a bit of the activity here in East Texas when Hurricane Laura came through. It was originally supposed to be even worse, with Hurricane Laura AND Hurricane Marco coming through the area.

But now, looking back, Hurricane Laura was five storms ago. FIVE. And that was just two weeks ago. Now, we're already on Tropical Storm Rene.

According to the National Hurricane Center, after Rene, there are only four names left in the 2020 hurricane name list - before they begin using the Greek alphabet (Alpha, Beta, etc.). Since they won't be using the letters U, X, Y, or Z, the only ones left are these:

  • Sally
  • Teddy
  • Vicky
  • Wilfred

Four names left...and we've still got a while before hurricane season is technically over. The National Hurricane Center says that it doesn't end for the Atlantic until November 30th...That's almost two months away...

So, as of right now, we're going to keep an eye on the storms that are already on the radars, and we're going to be watching out for the other areas that have the potential to form into something bigger.

I'm still blown away - Sorry, just a bit of wind humor there, for you weather people - that there have already been so many this year already. It's just another thing to put down on the list of 2020, I suppose...

What about you guys? Are you as surprised as I was when I realized just how active of a hurricane season this was? I know that I can't be the only one...
