First the doors closed, then bankruptcy ensued, then a glimmer of hope arose about reorganization, and now  --  scandal.

Dr. Miles McCall, who was the president of Lon Morris College from 2005 until his resignation earlier this year, is the focus of an investigation being lead by the Texas Attorney General's office.

At the heart of the matter is an alleged endowment fund of $1.3 million given to the college by Dr. James Long, who was a Rusk native, and graduate of Lon Morris.  He died in 2009.

Currently, speculation about the cash is heading in the direction of misplacement - not embezzlement - and while a silver lining it's not, that is otherwise good news on the reputation of a once distinguished campus, that certainly doesn't need any more tarnished memories.
