In today's world of tens of thousands of different diet plans, it can be hard to find one that works for you. There's mediterranean diets, keto diets, vegetarian diets, vegan diets...I could keep going, but you get the idea.

The Carnivore Diet

Out of all these diets, one struck me as interesting - the Carnivore Diet. CarnivoreStyle.com describes the carnivore diet like this:

The carnivore diet is a highly restrictive eating approach that focuses exclusively on animal-based foods while eliminating all plant foods.

So basically, it's all about meats and proteins. Personally, I like that idea. However, it can get kind of difficult to find recipes without using vegetables, carbs, things like that. But it's not impossible. In fact, my wife and I found one, and I'd be more than happy to share it. My wife refers to it as "Burger Sushi". I've seen different variations of it referred to as "Carnivore Sushi".

Steps for Burger Sushi (or Carnivore Sushi, Whatever You'd Prefer to Call it)

Here's what ingredients you'll need.

  • 2 lbs. ground meat
  • 5 boiled eggs (Yes, with the shells off, for all of you technical people out there)
  • Shredded cheddar cheese (mild, medium or sharp, whichever you prefer)
  • Shredded parmesan cheese
  • Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Steak seasoning (any brand you prefer)
  • One package of bacon

Once you've got your ingredients, the steps are pretty easy. (Sorry, I didn't think of getting step-by-step pictures for you guys...)

  • Flatten out your ground meat on whatever pan you're going to bake it in. Make sure it's nice and flat.
  • Place your eggs, end to end, making a row in the center of the beef.
  • Cover the row of eggs with your shredded cheese. Use all three kinds equally.
  • Coat the enter thing with steak seasoning, to your taste.
  • Roll up the meat around the eggs and cheese. The only thing I can think of to compare this to is like a stuffed tenderloin. Make sure to knead the meat around the eggs and cheese, so that it completely encapsulates the insides.

  • Now, you're ready to cook it. Cook for 45 minutes at 400°, or until beef is cooked. (Remember, ground beef should be cooked to about 160° to be safe to eat.)
  • Your final product should look like this:

I don't have many great recipes on hand, but I feel like this one is a winner. Stay tuned, maybe I'll find some others to share!
