Coming Soon – Mi Cocina Restaurant & Bar

Looks like Nacogdoches is getting another place to eat. It's a Tex-Mex restaurant, and before you say "we need another one of those?" the answer is yes. It will be owned and operated locally, and should not be confused with a chain up around Dallas of a similar name.

Mi Cocina Restaurant & Bar Tex-Mex will be ran by the same owners as Napoli's Pizza and Restaurante in Nacogdoches. They also run the Napoli's in Corsicana, Texas. Mi Cocina means "My Kitchen" in Spanish, and is actually a pretty generic name for restaurant's all over that serve Mexican food. The sign is up now, but no word on an official open date. If you know, let us know!

They will be utilizing the same building that used to be Posados at 1315 North Street in Nacogdoches. It's right across from the CVS, and really close to the SFA Campus. This is a spacious building, so there should be plenty of room to spread out and enjoy all the food and drinks. I mean it says Bar right on the sign, and I am sure they will be great.

I've had the food at Napolis many times, and if that is any indication of the level of cuisine that will come out of this kitchen, it will quickly become a local favorite. We have so many great Mexican food restaurants, but they are not all created equal. At this point for me, Mexican food, is just food.

So rumors of Napoli's moving to this site, are unfounded, they are opening another restaurant. The running gag in Nacogdoches is that any new construction or sign going up is an HEB. They really want an HEB back in Nacogdoches. I think they are just glad that it's not another donut shop.
