It’s getting hard to keep track of all the different Robin Hood movies currently in development, and since not one of them has hit theaters as of yet, it’s difficult to say if Robin Hood will be the Next Big Thing or if Hollywood is just trying too hard to make him happen. Add yet another Robin Hood movie to the pile, as the producers behind 300 are giving us the futuristic, dystopian version of the character, which actually sounds nothing like Robin Hood at all.

THR reports that producer Gianni Nunnari and his Hollywood Gang banner are pushing ahead with a futuristic Robin Hood film previously known as Robin Hood 2058. The film centers on an MI-5 agent who goes rogue in an attempt to exact justice in dystopian London because sure, why not. Slap the Robin Hood name on it and get ready to profit.

The film has actually been in development for a few years now, with scribes Jason Dean Hall (American Sniper) and Michael Ross (The Throwaways) working on past iterations of the script. Tony Lee is the latest scribe attached to the film, which was set up at Warner Bros. until the studio dropped it and began developing another Robin Hood film. Lee is best known for his comic book writing on titles like The Amazing Spider-Man and Doctor Who.

In addition to the dystopian Robin Hood and WB’s seemingly more traditional adaptation, there are a few other Sherwood Forest-centric projects in development at various studios. Lionsgate has Robin Hood: Origins with Taron Egerton in the leading role and Otto Bathurst (Peaky Blinders) directing. Then there’s Sony’s Hood, which the studio hopes to develop into a Fast & Furious-style franchise. And Disney has Nottingham and Hood, which they’re aiming to develop into a new franchise comparable to Pirates of the Caribbean.
