Expert Warns Texas, Louisiana Families – Stop Making This Drink at Home
(KMDL-FM) When you think of food and beverages that are not only good for you but good for your soul, if you're like most people, your thoughts will drift in the direction of "homemade". There is something very comforting about that word, don't you think?
Maybe it's because "homemade" in places like Palestine, Texas, or Plaisance, Louisiana, evokes a memory and mindset of comfort, of caring, and of confidence. Not one of harsh chemicals and medical concerns. But this is where we are, and unfortunately, the beverage that has many health experts up in arms is something that most of us make at home every day.

And in the case of this extremely popular drink, it's not such much the beverage that is causing the concern, but the way the beverage is made and how that process can affect our health in the long run.
Expert Warns These 3 Drinks Have Too Many Harsh Chemicals - Avoid Them
A board-certified endocrinologist has gone on the social media platform TikTok to expose this danger to people like you and me. You might be asking, Why TikTok? The answer is simple: that's where the most people are, and if you happen to believe the message that @endohealthdoc is delivering, then you might want to spit out that drink you just made.
The first item on the "Do Not Drink List" is coffee, but not just any coffee, specifically coffee that is brewed using K-Cup technology. The doctor's reasoning? You're pouring boiling water into a plastic cup, and that releases microplastics into your beverage.

The second beverage that our doctor suggests you avoid is decaffeinated coffee and tea. The reason is because of the way the caffeine is removed from the product. It involves a lot of harsh chemicals, and the doctor says that's not good for you.
Why Are Some Sports Drinks Not Good For You?
The third banned beverage on this doctor's list is electrolyte drinks. I am sure you are asking, just as I did, what those are. Most of us would call those Gatorade or Powerade, or a sports drink. The doctors' concern about these drinks are more harsh chemicals and the fact that the beverages spend a lot of time in plastic bottles.
In the TikTok from @endohealthdoc, she does offer replacement ideas for each of those beverages, so this isn't a "you'll just have to do without" kind of deal. You can make your coffee using a French Press, you can find other teas that are naturally caffeine-free, and when it comes to hydration, nothing really beats water, so see, you're good to go.
