You know, it's not real hard to get caught up in life and everything going on around us and miss things. Usually, we just say, "Darn, I'll have to do better next time," maybe, "I'll be paying more attention in the future," or something else along those lines. However, I missed something that I don't know that I'll recover from.

May 16th Was National Barbecue Day

Apparently, May 16th was National Barbecue Day according to the National Day Calendar. I had no idea whatsoever that that was going on. I never even skipped a beat. Sure, I had plans during the day, but I feel like I missed something vital.

Barbecue is a big deal in Texas. Actually, barbecue is a HUGE deal in Texas. As someone that was born here and that's lived here - literally - my entire life, part me is afraid of being kicked out of Texas! I mean, we have multiple great barbecue joints here in Deep East Texas, so I really have no excuse for missing such an important day.

I Completely Missed National Barbecue Day

I didn't buy barbecue, I didn't look up barbecue social media sites, I don't think I even drove past a barbecue place that day. On National Barbecue Day, I didn't do anything that even resembled celebrating it...Part of me is scared that some barbecue guru like Aaron Franklin or Daniel Vaughn is going to make me leave the Lone Star State and shred my Texas card...

So, going forward, I'll just have to make a point to keep an eye out for National Barbecue Day. It's not something that I want to miss ever again! In all honesty, I probably need to make up for missing this year. I'll probably need to look for some local barbecue, TODAY.
