SFC Jonathan Whittington is from Corrigan, TX. He joined the Army in 2000 as a Airborne Infantryman. He attended basic and AIT at Fort Benning, GA.

His first duty assignment was at Fort Polk, Louisiana in B Company 1st Battalion Airborne 509th Infantry from November 2000 to March 2002. From March 2002 to March 2003 he was assigned to 1st Battalion 9th Infantry Regiment in Camp Hovey Korea. From March 2003 to July 2005 he was assigned to 2nd Battalion 5th Cavalry Regiment and from July 2005 to March 2008 he was assigned to 2nd Battalion 8th Cavalry. From March 2008 to March 2010 SFC Whittington was assigned to the III Corps NCO Academy until getting reassigned to 1st Battalion 5th Cavalry from March 2010 to March 2012 before spending his last year at Fort Hood as a Division Battle staff NCO from March 2012 to March 2013.

SFC Whittington has earned airborne wings, Expert Infantryman’s badge, The Combat Infantryman’s Badge and Canadian Jump wings. He has attended airborne school, Modern Army Combative, Warrior Leaders course, Advanced Leaders Course, and Senior Leaders Course. The Observer Controller course, The Army Total Instructor Course, as well as the Small group instructor course.

He has served in Operation Iraqi Freedom twice and Operation New Dawn once. Awards are Purple Heart, MSM 1 Oak leaf cluster (OLC), Bronze Star Medal, ARCOM with 2 OLC and 1 Arcom with Valor and AAM with 4 OLC. SFC Whittington is married to Melissa with 3 Children, Tanner, Vincent and Allie, all residing in Nacogdoches.
