Nacogdoches is - officially - known as the Garden Capital of Texas. It has earned that title through all of the gardens and garden-affiliated things that go on within it. There are multiple garden clubs, nurseries, private gardens, and more.

Probably one of the most notable reasons for this is the SFA Gardens organization within Stephen F. Austin State University. The SFA Gardens are actually comprised of four areas - The Pineywoods Native Plant Center, The Gayla Mize Garden, The Ruby M. Mize Azalea Gardens, and The Mast Arboretum. Each one of these has its own feature pieces, and each one brings people in, especially in the fall when the colors are at their peak. This year is no different.

Fall Color is Here Just in Time for Christmas Pictures

Even though the first day of winter is on December 21st, we are still technically in fall, and the plants in the gardens are just now turning colors. Take it from someone who lives there, it seems like they decided to change colors overnight. You walk through the gardens and see all the different colors all at once.

Inevitably, the change in colors will bring people into the gardens to get those annual Christmas family pictures, or engagement photos, or baby announcements, or...you get the idea.

This Color Won't Last Long

If you are wanting to see the SFA Gardens in all their colors, you'll need to hurry. This generally won't last much longer than a week. So, if you're looking to get those pictures done, or you just want to get into the gardens to see the colors, you'll need to do it rather quickly.

The SFA Gardens are always sought after areas for photo ops. Once the leaves change for fall, they go to a whole new level, making photos even more breathtaking.
