With tons of forest in Texas, it's no wonder that aspiring shutterbugs flock to the region in hopes of capturing that one breath taking view on camera.

That's why the Texas Forest Trail Region has over 300 images to review by -- you.  That's right, the general public is encouraged to go here and vote for their favorite snap shots.

The contest, called "We Pine For Texas", concluded on April 7, with suggestions made to photogs to capture East Texas heritage and culture.  At stake, is over $4,000 in prize money, plus a chance to be recognized for the work.

The Texas Forest Trail Region is a regional tourism initiative developed by the Texas Historical Commission that helps Texans connect with their roots,  and for visitors to experience the Texas story in 35 counties of East Texas.

Voting ceases April 26, with all photo contest winners being announced here on May 2.
