Texas Kids Choose Their Favorite Spooky Movie
At Halloween, the key for kids' movies might be that they're not too spooky. Just enough cute fright is festive, and it won't keep the kids up in the wee hours with nightmares. Did Texas kids follow the trend? They might have gone a little creepy with their choice for the best spooky movie.
If you've got little ones, do you might pick an G-rated, animated, Halloween movie for them to watch while they're digging through the Halloween candy bag.
But Frontier Communications says most Texas kids want to get at least a little spooked, and watch The Addams Family if they're given the choice. It's our state's Favorite Spooky Kids' Movie on streaming sites right now, in the #1 spot on the state-by-state map. Spooky? Maybe creepy, and kids probably like it because then their own families don't seem quite so weird.
E.T. is the most popular spooky kids movie in several states including Louisiana. I forced the kids to watch that with me a few weeks ago and they didn't really get it. They didn't care to watch it again and again and buy the E.T. figurines and coloring books and magnets like some of us might have back in the day. At the end of the movie when E.T. gets sick and turns white and needs a healing, the kids did get creeped out a little, so mission accomplished, but it wasn't quite their style. What about Coraline? That one gets weird, and might creep out parents too. California and Nevada kids like that one the most.
At some point, kids lose the appreciation for cute fright, and they want to be scared out of their wits, don't they? But for now, movies like The Addams Family, Hotel Transylvania 2, Goosebumps, and Gremlins might be good family movies to go with the orange and black popcorn balls.
