When you don't have the eye of the tiger, you wind up in second place hoping to expand your season by more than one Friday evening "winner take all affair".

The Texas Rangers, sporting an insurmountable 13 game lead in the American League West on the Oakland A's, forgot to inform those guys they were out of the playoff race, let alone, divisional champs!

This seems to be an annual right to passage, as the Boston Red Sox collapse one year ago sent the team to an earlier than expected vacation, when they coughed up a 9 game wild card lead, going a pathetic 7-19 down the stretch.

Now the Rangers have just one day to forget about the previous 162, and dig down deep to fend off a season that may be wasted in about three hours tomorrow (October 5) night in Arlington.
