WS Lady Tigers Set To Make History By Bringing A State Title Home
Being a graduate from West Sabine, I try to keep up with the news from the little town of Pineland. This year, the Lady Tigers are making it easy to keep up with what's going on, because I'm seeing them all over the internet. That's because the Lady Tiger softball team is heading to the state tournament in Austin this week, and all of East Texas seems to be cheering them on.
That's right, after sweeping Lovelady last week in the Regional Finals, the Lady Tigers are now in Austin, getting set for tomorrow's State Semifinal game against the Crawford Lady Pirates. They will play at 9:00 AM on Red and Charline McCombs Field at UT Austin. If they win that game, they'll be playing in the State Championship game on Thursday at 3:00 PM.
You have to understand, I'm pumped for the Lady Tigers. This is something that they've got a real chance to come away with. Even though I won't have the chance to make it to Austin to see the games in-person, I'll be keeping up with all the updates via social media. It's hard to wrap my mind around the fact that they're just two games away from that state title, but it's a big reality.
So, good luck, Lady Tigers! You've already made your town, your school and its alumni proud. Now, go on and get that State Championship and bring it back to Pineland!
