If you've played sports or are a sports fan, you know the underdog always possesses one unique trait: confidence! If you believe you can win, you can win.

To win the state championship hardware, the Hudson Lady Hornets had to get by the number one seed in the tournament, and they did that Saturday in Austin.

Hudson beat the Henderson Lady Lions 8-4 to win the Class 3A state softball title.

It was a pitcher's duel until the fifth inning, and then the Lady Hornets unleashed a whoopin', erupting for six runs in the top of that inning. It was 6-4 for awhile, and then a Hudson home run made it 8-4 and they were able to seal the deal from there.

Congrats Lady Hornets! Now go have a great summer with friends, hanging out at the pools and having pizza parties, and brag about the big win. You deserve it.

It's the first ever state championship for Hudson.

Congrats to the MVP too, Hudson pitcher Kelsee Selman.
