For those of you that didn't know Michelle "Ms. A" Alvarado, you missed out. She was a teacher at West Sabine High School in Pineland, and she was great. Sadly, she passed away on April 5th. However, her memory lives on in the students she taught, the coworkers she worked with, and the friends and family that knew her.

On May 9th, those people, along with lots of others from across Deep East Texas will get the chance to honor her and to continue her legacy as an educator and friend. There will be a Ragball Tournament in Jasper in Ms. A's honor, and to help collect school supplies for students in need.

Ragball Tournament Information

The Ragball Tournament in honor of Ms. A will be held on Saturday, May 9th at 4:00 PM at the Jasper JYBA Fields. Those are located at 600 State Street in Jasper.

There is a $200 entry fee for each team, and homerun bands for the tournament are $10. The cool thing though, is that this is all to support local schools. They're collecting school supplies for students in need. Everything from backpacks, to pens, pencils, paper, notebooks, art supplies, and more. And, like I mentioned before, it's all in honor Ms. A. Check out the full flyer for information:

According to the tournament information from Facebook, you can call Nick Gore or Brady Williams to get signed up or to get more information.

This tournament is a way for participants to get to take part in what Ms. A stood for her entire career, and what most of our educators stand for - their students and making sure that they have the tools to succeed. And, to make sure that they know that they've got someone fighting for them. Ms. A will be missed, for sure, but this is a really awesome way to honor her - and to have a bit of fun while you're at it.
