New UFO Files Have Texans Talking About Aliens Again
The bigger the sky, the bigger the questions!
The Pentagon recently released another batch of declassified UFO files, and once again, people are talking about aliens. Not that the conversation ever really goes away- especially here in the desert Southwest.
Maybe it's the wide-open spaces. Maybe it's the endless night sky. Either way, this part of the country has always had a special relationship with the unknown.
Americans Are Looking Up More Than Ever
A new CBS News/YouGov survey found that most Americans believe intelligent life exists somewhere beyond Earth.
That's not exactly shocking.
From blockbuster movies to viral UFO videos and government file releases, the idea that we might not be alone has become part of everyday conversation. The survey also found that many Americans believe the government knows more about UFOs than it's letting on- a belief that's probably not going away anytime soon.
And every time the Pentagon releases new files, that curiosity gets another boost.

The Desert Southwest Has Always Been UFO Country
Whether you believe UFOs are alien spacecraft, secret military technology, or something else entirely, the Southwest has always felt like the perfect setting for a UFO story.
It's easy to see why.
This is a region of wide-open deserts, remote highways, and some of the darkest skies in America. Spend enough time driving through West Texas or southern New Mexico after dark and you'll understand why people can't help but look up.
The Southwest is also home to some of the most famous UFO lore in the country. Even people who've never been to New Mexico know the story of Roswell.

And Texas continues to add to the conversation with reported sightings and unexplained encounters popping up year after year.
The Night Sky Has A Way Of Making You Wonder
What I found most interesting about the survey wasn't whether people believe in aliens.
It was that most said they'd be curious if they actually met extraterrestrial life. For many people, UFOs aren't really about proving aliens exist. They're about the possibility that there's something out there we haven't figured out yet.
And if you've ever stood under a clear West Texas sky with nothing but stars above you, you've probably had that thought too.
Whether the latest Pentagon files change anyone's mind is another story. But in the desert Southwest, where the skies seem to go on forever, it's hard not to wonder what's out there.
