Crockett’s Famous Mimsy’s Craft Barbecue Is Unveiling Something Completely New
Mimsy's Craft Barbecue opened up in Crockett in 2020. Since then, they've been recognized as one of the top barbecue restaurants, not only in Deep East Texas, but in the entire state. They've even made the Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ list - not an easy thing to do, and definitely something to be proud of. Now, something new is on the horizon for Mimsy's, but I'm not quite sure what the exact details are.
Mimsy's Teases New Catering Business & New Restaurant Concept
On July 9th, on the Mimsy's Facebook page, a new post was put up about a new chapter for Mimsy's. One of the lines was "Mimsy's will evolve into a premier catering and events company..." Well, at first glance, that was really concerning, because my first thought was that they would no longer have a restaurant to go to.
However, as I kept reading, they went on to post, "At the very same time, we're thrilled to unveil our brand-new, full-service lunch and dinner concept - completely reimagined with a fresh name, a bold new look, and the same passionate love for exceptional food and warm hospitality that's always defined us." Then they also promised that the grand opening would be announced soon.
The next teaser hit their Facebook page on July 16th, and the message was "On pace for a tasty September..." By that time, I was hooked, checking on their page more often to see what was going on, hoping for more details.

The third teaser was posted to Facebook this morning, July 22nd. They talked about how they had been working on updates and renovations preparing for their reveal of whatever is going on, and that they were preparing to start interviews for it. So, it sounds like it's on pace to happen, soon. The only other thing that every teaser had in common was that they all featured pictures of either walnuts or hickory nuts - they look fairly similar, but I'm not sure which kind is in the pictures, or if I'm wrong about them altogether.
All I know is that I'm still keeping an eye out for more details. Stay tuned!
