Local BBQ Star Wade Elkins Competes For Favorite Chef Title
Most people that know anything about good barbecue in Deep East Texas know who Wade Elkins is. If you don't, let me educate you. Wade is the owner/pitmaster of Mimsy's Craft Barbecue in Crockett. Wade and his wife Kathy opened up Mimsy's in 2020, and since then they've been making waves in the BBQ world, including multiple appearances on the Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ list. Now, Wade is aiming for ANOTHER title.
Wade Elkins and the Favorite Chef Competition
Wade is currently up for vote in the Favorite Chef online competition. This is a competition where people can view competing chefs, learn some about their culinary skills and preferences (For example, Wade's signature dish is cold-smoked blackened catfish and crawfish etouffee over sausage jambalaya...I had no idea!) and vote on their favorite chefs - hence, the "Favorite Chef" competition name.

According to the Favorite Chef website, if he wins the votes, he will not only receive the title of "Favorite Chef", but he'll also appear in the Taste of Home magazine, get a chance to cook with celebrity chef Carla Hall, and he'll receive $25,000.
Favorite Chef Voting Information
Voters can vote online once a day for free. Or they can multiply their votes by donating. The money that's raised by this goes to the James Beard Foundation. It's pretty cool to see that this competition not only features chefs/cooks/pitmasters/grillmasters/etc. but it also helps out with a really cool cause.

The first round of voting closes on Thursday, June 11th, so if you want your votes to count, they have to be in before that time. As of right now, I'm not sure how many rounds there are before a winner is named.
All I know is that this would be an awesome addition to his current list of awards and recognitions. Good luck, Wade!
