The Nacogdoches Pro Rodeo was held at the Nacogdoches County Expo Center on March 26th - 28th. As we usually are, my wife and I were in attendance. Now, when you go to the Nac rodeo, you're not expecting all of the flair that you would see at the huge venues like Houston, San Antonio, Fort Worth, etc. But you do expect to have a good time. The rodeo this year was good. No surprises there. I can't really name anything negative that stood out to me.

The Cowboys and Cowgirls of the Rodeo

As far as the actual competition side of the rodeo, the talent of the cowboys and cowgirls was really good. I mean, not every bull rider made it to the 8.0 second clock, just like every barrel rider didn't make their run without knocking over a barrel, but you wouldn't expect them to. But all of the competitors still put on a heck of a show every night.

Specialty Acts - Trick Rider and Clown

The featured specialty act - Liberty Cunningham (no relation) - was a very young, very talented trick rider that was very impressive at what she did. The act probably scared some people half to death, but she knew what she was doing and was on point.

The clown - Johnny "Backflip" Dudley - was witty, funny, and overall entertaining. He played well off of the rodeo announcer and kept everyone engaged and laughing.

The Technical Side of the Rodeo

As far as the technical side of things goes, I don't have anything negative there either. The video boards were all in top-notch working order, the sound system was fantastic, lighting was good, there were no issues with anything that I can remember. And, if there was something wrong, they did a good job of making sure it didn't ruin any of the rodeo experience.

Closing Thoughts About the Nacogdoches Pro Rodeo

Like I said earlier, the Nacogdoches rodeo was good. I was looking forward to it this year and it didn't disappoint. I'm already looking forward to next year. Well done to all the people that made it happen and keep on doing what you do to make it an awesome experience.
