The Weather that Concerns Deep East Texans the Most
If you're from Deep East Texas, then what I'm about to tell you won't come as any surprise to you. In fact, I think that you'll agree wholeheartedly with me after I make my statement. Now, for those of you who aren't from here, this is a learning lesson for you. I'm about to tell you what scares Deep East Texans the most about bad weather. I know, it's a shocker, but we do get a bit nervous when storms come around. We just tend to hide it pretty well.
The Thing that Scares Deep East Texans the Most About Bad Weather
Around here we don't usually get a whole lot of bad weather. Do I wish we got less than we do? Absolutely. However, it's not like our piece of the world behind the Pine Curtain is another tornado alley. We don't worry about the hail. We don't worry about flooding. We don't even worry about lightning strikes as much. The thing that concerns us the most is wind.

Go with me on this one. We worry about the wind. And I'm not even talking extremes, like tornadoes. Yes, those are a concern as they should be, but the thing that makes us more worried are the straight-line winds. Why is that? Because if that straight-line wind pushes over a 50-60 tree, there aren't a lot of structures that will hold up if that tree falls on them. And you know what we have a lot of...? Trees. Big trees. Old trees. Big, old trees.
