44-year old Gregory Baker used to live in Lufkin and is trying to bring his family back to East Texas. KTRE says he was stabbed during a run-in with a thief on Monday in Missouri.

Baker was getting a deep freezer out of a storage unit as part of the packing process to head back to Texas when he was locked out of the storage unit and some items were missing from his pickup. Then a man grabbed his son and started backing away.

That would be my freak-out moment. What would you do?

A fight started, and that's when the thief stabbed Baker four times, rupturing his colon and spleen.

Baker was taken by ambulance to the hospital, and the thief got away.

Baker is recovering, but is still in a lot of pain. The plan is still to head back to Lufkin once he recovers.

When the Bakers lived here, their son attended Hudson ISD. Hudson and Lufkin send well-wishes to the Baker family.

Police are still looking for the attacker.
