There's always some sort of construction going on around Nacogdoches. If it's not road work - which actually never stops, now that I think about it - there are new buildings being constructed. Sometimes, the construction companies put up "Coming Soon" signs so that the community has an idea of what they can expect in the upcoming months. Other times, we have no idea what it's going to be until construction finishes and the new building opens for business.

As I was driving in Nacogdoches the other day, I came across some construction that fell in the latter category. No "Coming Soon", no hints, just dirt and concrete work, along with the heavy machinery needed to make the work happen. I was driving on Cardinal Street, across from The Overlook apartment complex. The land had been completely cleared, and there had been a brand-new concrete slab poured. This is what it currently looks like:

What's Being Built on Cardinal Street?

Naturally, the question is, "What is being built there?". It sits right in the middle of a bunch of different apartment complexes, so I suppose it would make sense to be housing of some sort. Plus, you can see from the picture that it might have the plumbing set for housing.

However, Nacogdoches has been adding several new office building around town lately. Theoretically, it could be small office spaces. The plumbing could be set for just restrooms, instead of the full buildout that you would expect to be in apartments.

Or, in all honesty, it could be something completely different. Something that's not even on my radar. As of right now, I'm just going to keep an eye on it and see what pops up next, and until I know, I'll keep speculating. Do any of you have any insight?

Three Potential Locations for the Old Stone Fort Museum in Nacogdoches

When the Old Stone Fort Museum is moved off of the SFA campus, it will need a place to go. Check out these three locations that might be good potential locations to move it to.
