Think back to 2017. A young group of little league baseball players from Deep East Texas was busy putting Lufkin, Texas on the map. (Alright, technically, the team from the year before - the "Thundering Thirteen" - had brought some attention to Lufkin. BUT, the "Fierce Fourteens" turned even more heads when they won the US National Title, and came out as the #2 team in the world. I remember watching the game, and how exciting it was to know that one of our local teams was getting worldwide recognition.

For winning that piece of history and bringing that title back to Lufkin, the young athletes of the "Fierce Fourteens" are getting their very own mural in Downtown Lufkin. It's a painting that will feature pictures of the players, as well as the entire roster on it.

I drove by today for the first time to see the progress on the mural, and this is what I saw:

As someone that grew up playing baseball, I think this is pretty awesome. The detail that's going into is very impressive. And, those ball players are going to have their very own piece of history saved for everyone that goes through Downtown Lufkin to see.

We'll be sure to keep you posted as the mural gets more complete, and we'll be sure to let you know when it's completely finished. Until then, we're going to keep an eye on it, and enjoy seeing the work in progress.
