Tribute to George Strait, Carrie Underwood Comes to Lufkin, Texas
Fans of George Strait and Carrie Underwood are in for a real treat later this month as the Pines Theater in Lufkin will be hosting a 'Tribute to Country Superstars'. The concert will take place Saturday, August 27 at 7 p.m. and is one of many productions under the umbrella of the Angelina Arts Alliance.
The George Strait tribute will be performed by Derek Spence and Southern Country Line. He is billed as the Top George Strait Tribute Act in America. Some years ago, Spence lived in Nashville when he was trying to track down a major record deal. His talent was undeniable as he shared the Grand Ole Opry stage with superstars like Shania Twain, Kenny Rogers, Trisha Yearwood, and many others. But, several record executives said they wouldn't sign him to a deal because he 'looked too much like George Strait'.
Over the past decade or so, Spence has turned those lemons into lemonade crafting the look, the sound, and the mannerisms that have turned his tribute act into the most sought-after George Strait tribute in the nation.
Felice Garcia will be bringing her jaw-dropping Carrie Underwood tribute to Lufkin as well. It's a performance that she has brought to audiences in Las Vegas hundreds of times where she performed as Carrie with the American Superstars production at The Stratosphere Casino Hotel and Tower.
This versatile performer has starred in a number of Las Vegas and Reno Nevada shows, including Principle singer of the Les Folies Bergere at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino when it ended its run after nearly 50 years. She has also been featured in Fantasy at the Luxor and iCandy Burlesque at Planet Hollywood. The seasoned performer earned her Actor’s Equity card by getting cast as the only female in the Tony Award Winning Broadway Musical Million Dollar Quartet as Elvis Presley’s love interest, Dyanne.
