Over Father's Day weekend, Nacogdoches got over two and a half inches of rain. I only know that because that's the amount of rain that I poured out of the rain gauge at my house. I spoke with people in Lufkin that said that they also experienced a massive amount of rainfall there, too. However, that rain may have to last us for a while.

No Significant Chances of Rain in the Near Future for Deep East Texas

After getting so much rain all at once, you would think that we might see at least some decent chances of rain over the next couple of weeks. At least, that's what I would think in my logical mind. However, after checking the Weather Channel website for Nacogdoches, then checking the same Weather Channel website for Lufkin, that's not the case. For the 10-day forecast that goes through July 6th, they're not predicting any more than a 24% chance of rain in both Nacogdoches and Lufkin, and that high of a chance doesn't even start until July 4th.

Now, I know what you're saying. "Mark, you can't take those things seriously. That weather is sure to change." And while I do agree with that, because it's true that our weather in Deep East Texas tends to change dramatically from day to day, I am kind of surprised to see the lower chances on an extended timeline. Usually when I see the forecasts, they tend to have higher chances of rain further out, then they tend to drop lower as you get closer to them.

All I know is that we got a whole bunch of rain all at once, and - as of right now - we're not sure when we'll see more.

Winter Storm Fern Photos in Deep East Texas

I was able to get out and get some photos of the aftermath of Winter Storm Fern. They weren't the hard-hitting photos of damage left behind like some people had to endure, but some pretty cool pictures of the ice brought on by the storm. Check it out!
