Mark’s Pet Peeves – Damaged Delivery Boxes
I like to think of myself as a pretty laid back guy. I don't get super upset with things, and even when I do get a bit upset, I don't fly off the handle. It's just not worth it to go off.
But, there are some things that do get under my skin every now and then. They're the kind of things that I just look at and ask, "Why?" That's it. That's the best way to describe the reaction. So, without further ado, let's dive into one of those pet peeves.

Damaged Delivery Boxes Bother Me
The other day, I received a package in the mail. I had been waiting on the delivery, so I was pretty excited when the box showed up in the mail. However, I found myself a bit peeved when I pulled the box out and it was all kinds of mangled...Sure, it might seem like a simple thing, but damaged delivery boxes are one of the things that bug me. But I think that it bothers me, because it hits on a few different levels.

It winds up being a culmination of several different things that lead to the frustration...if that makes any sense...
It Shows Carelessness
Whether it was damaged during packaging at the warehouse, during sorting at the post office, or during the actual delivery, a damaged package shows carelessness of at least one of the handlers, sometimes multiple ones.
It really doesn't take that much longer to, like the boxes say, "Handle with care."
It Has the Potential to Delay Enjoyment of Whatever Was Ordered
Generally, I don't order many things that can be rendered useless by delivery damage - glass items, expensive electronics, etc. I tend to order shirts, books (which CAN be rendered useless, but usually don't have that much happen to them), replacement pieces for various items, and other things like that.
However, on the rare occasion that I do order something that can really be damaged, I want it to show up on time and in one piece. I don't want to have to take the time to repackage it, ship it back, and wait on another one to come in the mail.
Like I said, this might seem like a simple thing, but it can be frustrating if your package is damaged. Alright, I'll get off my soapbox now...
