From day one, I've been an only child. No brothers, no sisters, just me. But you know what? That's alright. I enjoyed growing up that way. Were there times that I wished I had siblings? Sure, there were a few. However, I think I did just fine as an only child here in Deep East Texas.

Every year around this time, I see people posting pictures with their brothers and sisters for National Siblings Day - which takes place on April 10th, in case you didn't know. Needless to say, I've never had much to post about on this day, and that's alright too. This year, I found out that I have my own day, along with all of the other people that grew up like me. It's called National Only Child Day, and up until this year, I had no idea it existed!

National Only Child Day is April 12th

Yes, it's true, there is a National Only Child Day that takes place a mere two days after National Siblings Day. Look it up for yourself! I found out on the National Day Calendar website that April 12th is a day for all of us that didn't have those other kids running around with them. It's a day for those of us who know you can only blame the dog for so much. For those of us who couldn't play hide-n-seek whenever we wanted, because it takes a minimum, MINIMUM, of two people to successfully play.

I don't know how to celebrate being an only child other than to be thankful for how it went for me. I mean, don't get me wrong, it would have been fun to have built-in running buddies, but I can be thankful that I was the only one. After all, I didn't have to compete to be the favorite child! If you're an only child, you know what I'm talking about!
