Old Peking Restaurant Out, New Car Wash In…?

We've been waiting for an answer about what would take the place of the old Peking Chinese Restaurant at the corner of North Street and Austin Street for a few months now. Would it be a new restaurant that we didn't currently have in Nacogdoches? Would it be a new location for an existing Nacogdoches restaurant? Would it be another donut shop?

Basically, all of the speculation that I made, and that I heard others in the community make, revolved around it being some sort of restaurant. Then, today, a buddy of mine snapped a picture of this sign as he was stopped at the intersection. I can honestly say that this was not on my radar, as far as guesses for what would move in.

This is what he sent me:

"Tidal Wave Auto Spa Express Car Wash Coming Soon".

Again, not something that I was even considering going in there. So, I decided to dig a little bit. I went to the Tidal Wave Auto Spa website, and looked at the future locations. Sure enough, there it was:

Nacogdoches, TX - 3103 North St. Nacogdoches, TX 75961

And yes, that is the exact location of the former Peking Chinese Restaurant. So, now we have our answer. And, I will say, this isn't something that blows me away with excitement. However, it is something new. And, it is a brand new business that Nacogdoches hasn't had before, which is good.
