Desmond Tolbert is Our Newest Community Rockstar

We are now into double digits on the Community Rockstar list. Deep East Texas Community Rockstar #10 is someone that is doing tons of different things to better our community, and they're doing for people of all different ages.

Desmond Tolbert is This Week's Community Rockstar

The Community Rockstar for this week is Desmond Tolbert. He is the pastor of Stonewall Baptist Church in Douglass. However, his commitment to looking after the people of Deep East Texas extends outside his church walls.

According to the nomination that was submitted, "Pastor Desmond Tolbert, through his ministry and unwavering commitment to serving others, has impacted countless lives throughout the community. He has fed thousands of individuals and families, ensuring that those facing food insecurity receive the care and support they need." They went on to talk about how he has also been a part of helping with outreach at the Godtel Ministry, helping families out during times like Christmas. He has also overseen backpack and coat giveaways for over six years, which has helped ensure that students have the school supplies they need, and adequate clothing.

But that's not all that Pastor Tolbert does. According to the nomination, he also leads a prison ministry. According to the nominator, "Pastor Tolbert’s prison ministry stands as one of his most extraordinary accomplishments. He has faithfully ministered to incarcerated individuals by entering correctional facilities to preach the Gospel, provide spiritual guidance, and remind those behind bars that they are not forgotten." They went on to say that he also gives support to the families of those that are incarcerated, making sure that they are looked after as well. The nominator summed it up best in this way, "The work Pastor Tolbert performs within the community is both outstanding and extraordinary. His life reflects a profound commitment to meeting the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of others."
