According to a media release, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) investigated a two-vehicle crash which took place Wednesday night on Highway 7, about eight miles east of Nacogdoches. The accident claimed the lives 3 people.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates at approximately 6:40 p.m., a 2017 Chevrolet passenger car was traveling west on Highway 7.  A 2020 Buick Sport utility vehicle was traveling eastbound. For unknown reasons, the driver of the Chevrolet drove over into the eastbound lane and struck the Buick head-on.

The driver of the Chevrolet was pronounced deceased at the scene by a Nacogdoches County Justice of the Peace.  That person's identity has not been released at this time. A passenger in the Chevrolet has been identified as 26-year-old Brandon Guy from Mansfield, Louisiana. Guy was also pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Buick sport utility vehicle has been identified as 23-year-old Sarah Barton originally from Laurel Hill, North Carolina, but who has been living in Center, Texas. Barton was pronounced deceased at the scene. A passenger with Barton has been identified as 40-year-old Sammy Bell from Center. Bell was transported to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital for treatment. No details were given concerning the condition of Mr. Bell.

The Department of Public Safety is continuing to investigate the details of the this crash. Additional information is not available at this time.  Please keep all those involved as well as all first responders in your prayers.
