I Went To Walmart Yesterday And It Wasn’t Awful. No Joke.

Since the beginning of this COVID-19 pandemic, I've actually tried to avoid Wal-Mart. I'm not a huge fan of Wal-Mart on a regular day, and I sure didn't want to try to brave it during all of this.

However, yesterday I needed to pick up something from the Nacogdoches Wal-Mart that couldn't be bought elsewhere. I mean, yes, I suppose I could have ordered it online, but I needed it now as opposed to a few days from now.

And let me tell you, my trip to Wal-Mart was...

Not awful.

The employees were all wearing their masks. The shoppers were doing their best - and succeeding - at maintaining the six-foot social distance. Some of the shelves were bare - I actually expected that - but there weren't just piles of merchandise just thrown about. The aisles were nice and neat, and each aisle had it's own directions on the floor; some had little green arrows to tell you which way the aisle traffic was to go, while others had red signs with "X"s to indicate "Do Not Enter", or "Wrong Way". There weren't ridiculously long lines, and even the lines that were a bit long were moving rather quickly, which was nice.

I was able to find what I was looking for, purchase it, and go about the rest of my day. It took me a maximum of 15 minutes in the store. THAT was a pleasant surprise.

So, I say all of that to say this: Well done, Wal-Mart. This shopping experience was a decent one, and I am so thankful for that!
