Texas DSHS Releases Details of COVID Cases, Deaths in Nacogdoches

In a letter that was posted on the Nacogdoches County Emergency Management Office Facebook Page, the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) has offered a few more specifics concerning some of the confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county.

As of April 16th, a total of 72 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Nacogdoches County, with six of those resulting in the death of the individual.  The DSHS lists the following primary reasons for most of the cases in the county:

• Community spread
• Close contacts to confirmed cases
• Patients and employees at two long term care facilities
• Employees of business that are considered essential services
• Healthcare workers
• Persons who have previously attended large gatherings, such as religious services

The report from the DSHS goes on to state that the majority of the 6 deaths in the county have come from long term care facilities.

Officials with the City of Nacogdoches reiterate to its citizens that they are working diligently to help curb the spread of the disease, as well as to remain completely transparent to the information given to them by state authorities.
