At 4 am on April 11th, 2022 a white male wearing a "Come and Take it" t-shirt ironically stole a vehicle. He came and took a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt from the parking lot of La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Lufkin.

This car theft was a crime of opportunity. The man was seen wandering around the parking lot trying door handles.

Most thieves are lazy and are always looking for an easy score. After trying several vehicles, he happened upon the black sedan unlocked with the keys in the ignition. Then he started it right up and drove away.

We all know that stealing cars is wrong; and no one wants to victim blame, but you can follow some simple steps when parking your car outside to avoid this happening to you. As soon as you leave your vehicle remove the keys and lock the doors.

Thieves will roam around and look for unlocked vehicles to get at the contents inside. If you leave the keys inside, it's just an easy score for them.

This criminal tried many door handles that night, and he finally found what he was looking for. Make sure you remove anything of value from any vehicle you leave unattended.
